We have become aware of fraudulent job offers misrepresenting The iSchools NPO, which are designed to trick individuals into paying money or providing personal details for non-existent positions. Please be aware that The iSchools NPO does not require services to advertise our jobs/learnership openings, nor do we require payments from applicants. We take these scams very seriously and are committed to protecting individuals from falling victim to such fraud.
What is Recruitment Fraud?
Recruitment fraud is a sophisticated scam offering fictitious job opportunities. These fraudulent offers are typically spread through fake job offers posted on bogus websites, through unsolicited emails claiming to be from the company, or via other online platforms. The perpetrators’ goal is to deceive applicants into paying money, such as “administrative fees,” “training,” or “security check” costs.
How to identify recruitment fraud targeting The iSchools NPO:
- Bogus Recruitment Agencies/Companies: The perpetrators will often ask recipients to complete bogus recruitment agency forms, which may or may not include The iSchools NPO logo or name.
- Early Request for Personal Information: There is often an early request for personal information such as address details, bank account numbers, or ID/passport numbers.
- Unsolicited Contact: Candidates may be contacted by individuals claiming to be The iSchools NPO officials, Human Resources personnel, or third-party recruiters without prior application or contact from you.
- Non-Official Email Addresses: E-mail correspondence is often sent from free web-based e-mail domains (e.g., Yahoo.com, Hotmail.com, Gmail.com, Live.com, etc.) rather than official The iSchools NPO domains (@iSchools.org.za).
- Unusual Communication Channels: Communication may come from an officer or senior executive of the Company, often from Legal or Human Resources, and the email signature may include a non-company phone number.
- Requests for Money: The perpetrators frequently use mobile or platform telephone numbers and email addresses to request payments, stating various reasons such as administrative fees, training, or security checks. They may often offer to pay a large percentage of the fees back to you.
- Pressure to Pay Quickly: There is often an insistence on urgency to make the payment.
